Yale Peabody Museum of natural history

CLIENT Personal Project

SERVICES Branding • Logo • Website

Yale’s Peabody Museum was a frequent destination for me as a child, from school field trips to Saturday afternoon visits with my parents. It was a bit unfortunate, however, to see that while wonderful new renovations were going on to revamp the museum, the website and overall branding for the museum still felt a little outdated to me.

Challenge

  • Take inspiration from a classic, outdated logo and modernize it for a new era without totally destroying it’s nostalgic look

Solution

I used this project as an excuse to break out my calligraphy nibs. The new logo wordmark is hand lettered, while the new blues are more subtle and classic while still being fresh. The website uses both a classic serif font for subheaders and big bold sans-serif for the main headings and body copy.
